Tektronix and Singapore’s Quantum Engineering Programme advance quantum technology efforts
Singapore, April 03, 2023 -- Tektronix, Inc., a global leader in test and measurement, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore's Quantum Engineering Programme (QEP) to collaborate in providing technical advice and input from its applications and sales teams on instrumentation and operation practices within the National Quantum Fabless Foundry (NQFF) in Singapore, which was announced earlier last year. The NQFF is hosted at A*STAR’s Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), and supports the quantum research community by developing enabling quantum devices that require micro and nano fabrication.
Singapore’s Quantum Engineering Programme aims to realise the benefits of quantum technologies for society. Launched in 2018, it supports translational research focused on industry challenges and initiatives to nurture a quantum ecosystem. Coordinated nationally across various research organisations, QEP, which is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS), is supported by the National Research Foundation, Singapore and overseen by the National Quantum Office.

“To sustain a strong quantum ecosystem for Singapore, we need to nurture both a deep scientific community and a vibrant commercial sector. The Quantum Engineering Programme looks for opportunities for researchers and companies to work together to both sides’ benefit. The MOU with Tektronix is a good example of such a collaboration,” said Dr Alexander Ling, who is Director of QEP and an Associate Professor in NUS.
Tektronix is making an in kind contribution of a 10 GHz 8-channel 6 Series B Mixed Signal Oscilloscope (MSO) towards the National Quantum Fabless Foundry. The collaboration also includes facilitation of the use of a range of state of the art Arbitrary Waveform Generators, Source Measure Units for characterising the quantum devices at NQFF.

The cooperation encompasses building of characterisation lab capabilities for quantum technologies such as assisting in drafting of test protocols/plans, and facilitating use of Tektronix instruments. In addition, Tektronix will support formulation of improvements in test and measurement instrumentations and methodologies, thus mutually benefiting from the development of quantum characterisation tools. Finally, Tektronix will organise and participate in joint academic, scientific, and training activities such as seminars, workshops and conferences.
